About Wayne Jordan
Wayne Jordan, Freelance Copywriter and Business Writer
First off, let me assure you that I am not the Wayne Jordan who writes romance novels; that’s someone else entirely. So, if you were hoping to spice up your content with a little romantic heat, you’ve got the wrong guy.
I’m the Wayne Jordan who is the freelance commercial writer and copywriter.
Having cleared that up, let me suggest why we may work well together: I spent over 40 years “in the trenches” of business ownership (more on this later). I know the pressures of making payroll and dealing with taxes, inspections, government rules, insurance, accountants, lawyers, and judges. I know what it’s like to do my job plus someone else’s almost every day. And, I know what it’s like to leave things undone that really should be done.
I’m Very Opinionated About What Constitutes Good Content
Now that I’m retired (ha ha) I do what I love to do: find the essence of a message and just the right words to convey the message.
So, currently I write a bi-weekly trades column for Antique Trader Magazine and am the author of the book The Business of Antiques published by F&W Media under the Antique Trader brand. I have an active freelance writing business; I’ve written sales copy, ebooks, training manuals, website content, and speeches. I am an award-winning Toastmaster and have a knack for delivering a message concisely and humorously.
Here’s a nice remark about my writing from one of my editors, Eric Bradley of Antique Trader Magazine:
- “Wayne’s columns, features and live event articles have become a cornerstone in Antique Trader’s industry coverage. His smart, yet conversational, writing style was an instant hit with our readers. He has a natural talent for eliminating the extraneous information that bogs down the average writer and Wayne zeros in on information his audience needs to know to make better decisions about their hobbies and businesses. Hands down Wayne is the top new writer we’ve added in two years.”
Still with me? Here’s the business background I promised:
I started my first business right out of college, and have been self-employed for most of the past 40 years. I’ve owned two retail stores (Baldwin Piano & Organ dealerships), a mobile service business, a moving company, and an antiques business. For many years I was a freelance auctioneer. As an auctioneer, I’ve travelled across the U.S. from Florida to Alaska and internationally to sixteen countries from Russia to Panama. I’ve sold a variety of goods at auction: cars, real estate, jewelry, fine art, antiques, business assets, and estate property.
I’m a retired Virginia-licensed Auctioneer, Certified Personal Property Appraiser, and Accredited Business Broker. As a Business Broker, I’ve written exit plans for restaurants, convenience stores, trucking companies, beauty salons, service shops, art galleries, antique stores, and more.
I have held the professional designations of Certified Estate Specialist; Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate; Certified Auction Specialist, Residential Real Estate and Accredited Business Broker. I have held state licenses in Real Estate and Insurance.
Plus, I used to play drums in a rock-n-roll band, but I’m not sure that counts as a business. Call me and let’s discuss your marketing communication needs.
